There are several utilities that allow to make connections with remote computers. If you need more than one connection to the remote computer controls that only require a basic level with minimal configuration, you can perform through your Gmail account.
SRemote is an application that allows small pocket remote computer via Gmail account. The program allows to perform some basic commands on a remote machine via Gmail.
Download sRemote on the machine. Extract the zip file in a directory. When using sRemote first, the program will ask users to create a password to access the computer that is running there sRemote.
Note that dont provide this password to others because anyone with this password can remote control your computer.
The next step involves setting up authentication for sRemote Gmail. Just click on the Gmail settings and enter the Gmail address, password, and return address.
One thing to note is if the user has activated two-step authentication mode in Gmail accounts will need to configure a new password for sRemote applications. Root password for your Gmail account will not be effective.
Once configured Gmail account settings, click the Start monitoring button. sRemote checks Gmail account users. Monitoring interval is 5 seconds by default but can be reconfigured depending on the requirements.
And this is the most interesting part will be done when you ordered the remote computer. Users can use any email address and any device. Basically, users will have to send an email with a special syntax Gmail account was configured before (in sRemote). For example, if we have email configured in sRemotemycomputer@gmail.com, can send an email from anyone@hotmail.com tomycomputer@gmail.com with the following syntax:
password () command ();
With “password ()” is the password when the user has configured sRemote and start “command ()” is any statement that sRemote support. The statement must be in subject line of email.
sRemote accept the following statements:
1. screenshot ();
2. shutdown ();3. logoff ();
4. restart ();
5. abort ();
6. run (program, parameters);
7. play (path);
8. msg (text);
9. log (text);
10. exit ();
11. beep ();
12. forceshut ();
13. mail (sender, password, receiver, body, subject);
14. processes ();
15. ping (address);
16. getfile (path);
17. delfile (path);
18. deldir (path);
19. uptime ();
20. copy (oldpath, newpath);
21. move (oldpath, newpath);
22. help ();
As a group, a program sRemote is really handy and useful when someone urgently need a remote connection in minutes. Two things need to improved in sRemote. The first is sRemote not support Google Apps address that also uses the technology of Gmail. Second, there is no confirmation that the command can be performed on a remote computer. Perhaps there should be a response email message that the command has been successfully implemented on the remote machine.
